Matthews is a picturesque town of some 22,000+ citizens just southeast of the center of Charlotte. While located in the county of Mecklenburg, the Matthews Post Office does handle some zip codes that are geographically in Union County. Matthews, NC is convenient to interstates, railroads and airports, and one third of the residents have lived in Matthews for 15 years enjoying incomes over $100,000. Matthews property tax rate is lower than that of Charlotte, and the automobile tax is 1/2 that of Charlotte.
